Following the succesful first Future for Nature Award Events, in 2008 and 2009, the third Award Event has taken place on Friday the 19th of March 2010.

The Future for Nature Award Event 2010 took place on Friday, March 19th, 2010. The event started with a lunch after which the winners of the Award event were announced. They were: mrs Jean Thomas, from Australia, working in Papua New Guinea on the Tenkile Tree Kangaroo, mr Alberto Campos, from Brazil, working on the Manatee and ms Els van Lavieren, from the Netherlands, working in Morocco on the Barbary Macaque. The day ended with a Conservation Market Place, where all participants enjoyed a drink and a chat.

We were joined by various celebrities. First of all Ms. Saba Douglas-Hamilton, internationally renowned nature  documentary producer and chair of the international selection committee joined us. She has made documentaries for eg Animal Planet and BBC and is a fervent conservationist. Secondly, Ms. Angela Cropper, Deputy Executive Director of the UNEP, was present at the Award Event. Specifically in this UN International Year of Biodiversity, this is a great honour. Ms Cropper was instrumental  in the drafting of the Convention on Biological Diversity and was interim Executive Secretary of the Convention.
